Connecting your bank

How Lorica links your bank through Plaid, what it can and can't see, and how to reconnect.

Why Lorica connects to your bank

Lorica needs two things from your bank: to see your income deposits, so it knows when money lands, and permission to move your chosen contribution into your clearing account. You connect once, and Lorica handles the rest each cycle.

How the connection works

Lorica uses Plaid to link your account. Plaid is the same service thousands of financial apps use to connect bank accounts. When you connect, you log in to your bank through Plaid's window — your username and password go to your bank, not to Lorica. Lorica never sees or stores your bank login.

What Lorica can see

  • Your account balances

  • Your transaction history, including income deposits

  • Your account and routing numbers, so it can move your contribution

Lorica uses this only to run your payoff plan. It doesn't sell your data. (See "Your data and privacy" for the full picture.)

Connecting your account

  1. Go to the bank connection step in the app.

  2. Search for your bank and log in through the Plaid window.

  3. Pick the checking account your income lands in.

  4. You're connected — Lorica can now build your plan.

If your connection stops working

Banks sometimes drop the connection — after a password change, for example. If that happens, Lorica will ask you to reconnect through Plaid. Your automation pauses until you do, so nothing runs on a broken link. Reconnecting takes about a minute.
